Did you know York SU provides dedicated funding for Academic Reps? You can apply for up to £100 to run initiatives, events, and campaigns that improve student life in your department.
The Academic Rep Grant provides financial backing to turn your ideas into reality. Reps typically use funding to:
Gather Feedback: Host informal drop-ins or focus groups to collect student views on course topics or department issues.
Build Community: Run social or networking events that bring students together and strengthen departmental identity.
Run Targeted Campaigns: Organise events around key awareness days, student wellbeing, or specific academic improvements.
Not sure what to apply for? Here are some successful ways reps used the grant last year:
Coffee & Cake Feedback Drop-ins: Informal sessions where students dropped by for tea, cake, and a chat about their course experience.
Departmental Wellbeing Events: Relaxed, low-pressure events designed to help students de-stress during busy assessment periods.
Mini Student-Led Conferences: Academic showcases featuring student research, presentations, and discussions.
Panel Discussions & Speaker Events: Departmental events celebrating key occasions, such as International Women's Day panel talks.
Applying for funding is simple:
